Youth organisations and services to benefit from €32,000 in Capital Grant funding

Laois/Offaly Education and Training Board has been awarded €32,302.23 in capital grants to support youth organisations, and local youth services and clubs.

This funding will support these services and clubs with upgrade works, the purchase of new equipment, ICT for online service provision, improvements to ventilation, and adaptations to outdoor spaces to facilitate youth services to run outdoor activities.

Laois-Offaly Education Board are co-grantors for grant applications under €5,000 and the Department with Ministerial approval is the grantor for applications in excess of €5,000.

Total allocations agreed are: €15,315.79 for grants under €5,000 and €16,986.44 for amounts over €5,000.

Welcoming this news, Minister for State at the Department of Finance, Sean Fleming said the groups who will receive the money make a vital contribution to the lives of young people.

He said: “I would like to thank the great work done by all involved in these clubs and services.

“The young people in our community benefit from the social interaction as well as the support and guidance from these groups.

“They have played a very important role for the young people in our families and communities especially with the challenges and restrictions due to the Covid pandemic and the difficulties they faced during these times.”
