Laois mental health charity set to host live gig on Friday evening

A Laois mental health charity are set to host a live fundraising gig in Portlaoise on Friday evening.

SOSAD Laois are holding ‘Monsters of Craic’ in Kavanagh’s Bar from 8.30pm.

The Monsters of Craic, with Ares Redemption & Saoirse Lawlor, intend to sate all your rock, grunge and metal needs with all funds raised going to SOSAD Laois.

The show gets underway at 9pm and tickets are just €10.

A spokesperson said: “No fan of Dad Rock, Grunge, or Metal should miss this.

“And even if you can’t attend, we would encourage people to buy tickets and make a donation that way.”

The Laois branch of SOSAD (Save Our Sons And Daughters) Ireland was officially launched in April.

The service provides a free counselling and support service to people who are experiencing mental distress and those bereaved by suicide.

The organisation also offers a wide range of counselling and support services for younger people through their Young People Matter initiative.

This provides a safety net where teenagers over the age of 16 are at the point of transferring to the adult mental health services which is recognised can be a vulnerable and stressful time in their lives.

The organisation has been in existence since 2006 and has centres in the North East of the country.
