Portlaoise College fundraiser

Portlaoise College in association with their parents council are delighted to launch “Spin for the Outdoor Gym” fundraiser to raise funds for a state of art outdoor gym on the school grounds.

This new gym will be used for PE classes, during lunch times, will be wheelchair accessible and will be enjoyed by all for many generations to come.

Each class in Portlaoise College will work together to cycle over 2000KM over 4 days from March 22-25. Each tutor class will “cycle” through a country represented by our student body.

Family and Friends of current students of Portlaoise College can donate through our Go Fund Page.

Remember if you are sponsoring a student please write down their name and class when you are donating as these donations can also contribute to student prizes.

There are some great prizes on offer with the class that raises the most will earn a class day trip to Castlecomer Discovery Park.

Other prizes include an outdoor pursuit day trip, a class trip to SuperMacs and a student individual prize of a HP Laptop for the student who raises the most.

Principal Noel Daly commented: “As part of our inclusive ethos and to combat the negative effects of Covid 19 we have decided to organise a fundraiser where students will “cycle” through each country represented by our student body.

“This fundraiser will bring students together in a positive way, highlighting/celebrating the diverse cultures (33 nationalities) at Portlaoise College while working as one for the betterment of the school community”

Parent’s Council chairperson Sinead Walsh said “This is an excellent fundraising idea, the Outdoor Gym will complement the excellent extra-curricular programmes at Portlaoise College and will last for future generations.”
