Three Laois students awarded UCD scholarships for academic excellence

UCD Cistercian Roscrea Winners

Three Laois each received a UCD Entrance Scholars Award earlier this week for academic excellence.

Durrow’s Darragh Conroy, James Dunne from Portarlington and Fionn McWey of Ballyroan were all honoured recently.

Entrance Scholars are first year students recognised for their academic achievement in achieving 560 points or more in their Leaving Certificate examinations.

Recipients are presented with a recognition certificate and their achievements are recorded on their final academic transcript.

Darragh is studying Science, James is studying Agricultural Science and Fionn is studying Physiotherapy.

They are all past pupils of Cistercian College Roscrea where they sat their Leaving Cert last June.

They were presented with their awards at a ceremony in UCD O’Reilly Hall last Tuesday.

Gerard Grealish, College Principal, attended the ceremony and accepted a commemorative scroll on behalf of the College.
