Ten live music acts at Canal Ceoil in Turley’s Bar in Mountmellick this June Bank Holiday weekend

Canal Ceoil 2022

Festival season is almost upon us and you can kick it off in style next week by heading to Turley’s Bar in Mountmellick for their first outdoor music festival, Canal Ceoil this June Bank Holiday weekend.

With over ten live music acts over the two days including the likes of The Dooley Brothers, The Jury, The Big Spoon and Radio Nowhere, this promises to be the ideal way to kickstart your summer.

Planning for the event started back in January and owner Tom Moss was keen to get the right mix of big names along with up and coming local talent.

Joining the more established acts are young musicians and bands that are sure to make a name for themselves at this event. ‘Since we took over here in September we’ve had 32 different bands and musicians play here.

The talent in the region is phenomenal so we decided to put the best of them together and create this new mini-festival to showcase that talent to a wider audience.’

Some of the younger acts on show at the event in Turley’s include Laoismen Jason Flood and Conor Delaney as well as Mountmellick brothers Adam and Martin Culleton who play under the name The Cur Dogs.

Joining them are the exceptionally talented Brian Killeen, playing alongside his friend to form ‘Brian & Fiachra’ and local band ‘G&T’

As well as the obvious draw of the music, there will also be plenty of drink promotions and a gourmet food outlet on site.

And as a further incentive for music-lovers in the region, everyone who buys a Canal Ceoil ticket will be put in a draw for a full weekend camping ticket to Electric Picnic.

The festival kicks off with Conor Delaney at 2pm on Saturday and culminates with Mullingar band ‘Distant Sun’ who will draw the final curtain on Canal Ceoil 2022 with their gig at 10pm on Sunday.

That’s 20 hours of live music and at the bargain price of €10 for a one-day or €15 for a two-day ticket.
