Peacefully, in the loving care of the nurses and staff of Brookhaven nursing home, Ballyragget. Predeceased by his wife Jill. Deeply regretted by his loving sons Darren, Colin & Brendan and their partners, brothers Joe & John, sisters Margaret & Breda, brothers in law, sisters in law, grandchildren Aoife, Aisling, Clodagh & Jack, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours & friends.

Reposing at Phelan’s Funeral home, Durrow, from 5.00pm on Monday (St Stephen’s day) with Rosary at 7.00pm. Removal to Holy Trinity Church on Tuesday morning for Requiem Mass at 11.00am. Burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Statia Dunne
Ballybooden, Ballacolla, Laois

Statia Dunne, Ballybooden, Ballacolla, Co. Laois, December 23rd 2022. Peacefully, in the loving care of the staff at Sacred Heart Nursing Home, Crosspatrick.

Predeceased by her sisters Ann (Nan) and Kitty. Sadly mourned by her niece Kathleen Gilman, Elizabeth Kilmartin, Brigid Quinlan and her nephews Jim Quinlan and Tom Quinlan, grand nieces Anne Cannon, Mary Bennett and Breda Whelan, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney, on Saturday evening (December 24th) between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

Removal on Monday morning (December 26th) to St. Tighearnach Church, Cullohill, arriving for funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery, Rathdowney.

Theresa Kinsella (née Keogh)
Tankardstown, Athy, Kildare/Stradbally, Laois

Born in 1950 and formerly of Stradbally, Co. Laois.

Deeply regretted by her loving husband Martin, son Andrew, daughters Caroline and Edel, brothers Pat, Joe and Michael, sisters Esther and Cathy, sons-in-law Tom and David, daughter-in-law Elvira, grandchildren Grace, Harry, Jane, Sheila, Alejandro, Andrew, Martin, Isabella and Lourdes, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Rigney’s Funeral Home, Athy, on Monday evening (December 26th) from 6pm until 8pm. Removal at 11.30am on Tuesday morning (December 27th) to arrive at St. Michael’s Parish Church, Athy, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, see livestream link http://www.parishofathy.ie/.

Burial afterwards in St. Michael’s New Cemetery, Athy.

Powders (nee Dunne) Louisa, Grattan St., Portlaoise, 24th, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of Martin. Dearly loved mother to William, Martin, Maria, David and Raymond. Cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Deeply regretted by her loving family; sisters Mamie, Betty, Dinah, Carmel, Breda, brothers Ber and Pat, daughters in law Elizabeth, Olive, Louise and Ciara, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home on St. Stephen’s Day, from 6.30pm with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Tuesday to SS Peter and Paul’s Church, to arrive for 12 noon requiem Mass. https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/webcam/ Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery. Iris (Rebecca) Williams (née Wilkinson)
Clonmore, Errill, Laois/Tipperary

Iris (Rebecca) Williams (nee Wilkinson), Clonmore, Errill, Co. Laois. Passed away peacefully on the evening of December 23rd 2022.

Survived by her loving husband George, her brothers Albert and Warren, her children Norman, Adrian, Miriam, Brian, Cynthia, Lorraine, Niall, Rebecca, David, Iris and Jason, her daughters and sons in law and many adoring grandchildren.

Private family wake on the 26th December. Funeral service in Castlefleming Church (R32 XK57) at 11 am on Tuesday 27th December, followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Family flowers only. Donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, to Rathdowney Union Church Fund c/o O’Sullivan’s Funeral Services.

Mary McKay (née Lee)
Derrough, Mountrath, Laois, R32 WRC2

Mary McKay (née Lee), Derrough, Mountrath, Co. Laois. Died 23rd December 2022, peacefully in the loving care of the Matron and staff of Oakdale Nursing Home Portarlington, predeceased by her husband Samuel.

Loving mother to Emily, Lena, Daphne and Myra. Sadly missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her home Derrough, Mountrath (Eircode: R32WRC2) on Saturday (Christmas Eve) from 4pm until 9pm. (House private on Christmas Day only). 

Removal on Monday (St. Stephen’s Day) to St. Peter’s Church Mountrath for Funeral Service at 2.0’clock, followed by burial in the adjoining Churchyard.

Mary (May) Poole (née Redmond)
Rosenallis, Laois

May (Mary) Poole nee Redmond, Rosenallis, Co. Laois passed peacefully 22/12/22 surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Tom, sister Eileen and brothers Tom and Joe.

Sadly missed and fondly remembered by her sons Aindreas, Dominic, Des and Cathal, daughters-in-law Pauline, Bernie, Patricia and Monica, grandchildren Rebecca, Cillian, Danielle and Kieran, sister Abbey, sister-in-law Rosie, nieces and nephews, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Reposing in her home on St Stephen’s Day from 5pm. Recital of The Rosary at 7pm. Removal from her home on Tuesday 27th at 11.50am for Requiem Mass at 12 noon in St. Brigid’s Church Rosenallis. Burial after in St Brigid’s Cemetery.

House private on Tuesday morning.

Pat Julian
Graigue, Ballylinan, Laois, R14 A218/Athy, Kildare

Pat passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He bravely fought and lived with cancer for the last ten years. Predeceased by his mother Anne (recently), his sister Mary Walsh and his grandson Eoin.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Sheila, his children Paul, David, Seán, Brian, Linda and Claire, his daughters-in-law Mary Claire, Eva and Áine, son-in-law Conor, grandchildren Patrick, Jack, Jamie, Emily, Jane, Annie, Alannah, Alice, Grace and Laura, his brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Reposing at his residence (R14A218) from 12pm Friday 23rd with Rosary at 8pm. Removal at 1.30pm on Saturday 24th to arrive in St. Anne’s Church, Ballylinan for Requiem Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in St. Anne’s Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the staff in Tallaght University hospital and the Palliative care team for their dedicated care to Pat.

Martin Gilligan
Ballyfin Road, Mountrath, Laois

Martin Gilligan, Ballyfin Road, Mountrath, Co. Laois. Died 21st December 2022, at Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise surrounded by his loving family, predeceased by his parents Martin and Catherine and sister Joan. Sadly missed by his son Ian, daughter Jenna and their mother Beryl, his son in law John, grandchildren Kate, Louis and Ruby. Greatly missed by his brothers Anthony, Aidan, John, sisters, Margaret, Ann, Claire, Gabrielle, Majella, Angela, Carmel, Frances and Mary extended family and friends.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home Mountrath on Friday evening from 3 o’clock with removal at 6.30p.m. to St. Fintan’s Church Ballyfin arriving at 7 o’clock. Requiem Mass on Saturday morning (Christmas Eve) at 11 o’clock, followed by burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery Ballyfin.
