Big crowd expected as Great Heath Run set to return for first time since 2020

Great Heath Run Main

After a Covid-19 enforced absence, hundreds are set to take part in the annual Great Heath Run this weekend.

The Great Heath Run, organised by The Heath GAA Club, will return in 2023 after a two-year absence.

It will return to its traditional slot in the calendar – the third Sunday of January, which in 2023 falls on January 15 at 11am.

There will be 5K and 10K options, both chip timed, over the usual course on quiet country roads.

This year, in a nod to the name, The Heath, and to highlight the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, a new reward medal is in place.

Instead of providing a medal, all entrants who register online will be given the option of either taking home a potted heather or of having a heather planted in the club grounds.

The heather is known for its bee friendly properties.

The Heath GAA Club, R32 HF72, will be available for parking, changing rooms, toilets and showers and of course, our now famous post-race refreshments.

The cost for registration for the 10km race online is €20 while that can also be done on the day from 9am for €25.

It costs €15 to register for the 5km race online while to do so on the day is €20.

The fee for taking part in the family fun run is €20 and that can also be done on the day.
