Success for Laois athletes at Leinster Novice and Masters Road Championships in Kilkenny

The first 3 athletes across the line at the Leinster Road Championships

The Leinster Novice and Masters Road Championships took place on the 1 mile loop around the village of Gowran in Kilkenny on Saturday last.

St Abban’s Will Fox, fresh off his impressive run at the Road Relays championships last week, made the short trip to Gowran full of confidence.

After a tactical affair for most of the 6km race, Will broke clear from the rest of the field, taking the Novice road title and continuing his impressive run of form since returning from altitude training.

Siobhan Burke also ran impressively for St Abban’s claiming a bronze medal in the Masters F45 category.

While her club mate Karen Kavanagh was close behind to also claim bronze in the F50 category.

In the Men’s masters race, Francis Fleming was St Abban’s only medallist finishing 3rd in the M65 category.
