Gardai are appealing for information following an incident of burglary and dangerous driving.

This occurred in Laois on Thursday afternoon and Gardai are still asking for any witnesses to come forward.

3. Gardai confirm seizure of €230,000 of heroin and cocaine in Portlaoise

Gardaí have seized approximately €230,000 of suspected heroin and cocaine during a number of searches in Portlaoise this week.

The searches were conducted as part of Operation Tara by the Laois Drugs Unit on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

Independent TD Carol Nolan has called for what she says are ‘major safety concerns’ surrounding E10 fuel to be addressed before it is introduced.

E10 fuel is unleaded petrol with a higher concentration of plant-based ethanol, which helps to reduce its carbon footprint.

5. Three additions to the Laois senior football panel as Tailteann Cup opener approaches

The Laois senior footballers have added three new players to their panel ahead of the start of the Tailteann Cup.

All three were part of the Laois U-20 football panel that reached the Leinster semi final where they were beaten by eventual champions Kildare who have since reached the All-Ireland final.

6. Laois village all set as plans in place for inaugural fundraising Tractor and Truck Run

Timahoe will be a hub of activity on Saturday, May 13 as the inaugural Timahoe Truck and Tractor run will take place in the village.

The event has been organised by the Parents’ Association of Scoil Mhuire Fatima and all proceeds will go to the school.

Everyone was saddened by the recent passing of Abbeyleix man, Cormac Lally.

He was a hugely respected man in community, sporting, business and charity circles.

Congratulations to Mountrath Community School, who were recently crowned Leinster ‘B’ Second Year hurling champions.

The beat Dublin’s Colaiste Eoin by 5-18 to 2-8 down in Carlow.

9. Ward and Moran to the fore as Portarlington see off O’Dempsey’s for second ever Feile title

Sean Michael Ward and Sean Moran were excellent for Portarlington as they claimed Laois Feile glory for just the second ever time in their history.

The club’s last success came in 2019 and they were successful here after edging out O’Dempsey’s by five points.

10. Brilliant Brophy leads The Harps to Feile ‘B’ glory to complete the double

The Harps will be very busy this summer as they claimed the Laois Feile ‘B’ title in the Centre of Excellence this evening.

Full forward Jay Brophy was the hero as he scored 3-5 as his side added football glory to the hurling title they won two weeks ago.
