Former Ireland international Ian Harte set to attend fundraising event in Portlaoise

Former Leeds United and Republic of Ireland full back Ian Harte has been announced as the special guest for Kolbe Special School fundraiser on August 24.

The event which is taking place in Stapo’s DeBruns at Humes Bar in Portlaoise is a joint effort between Laois Republic of Ireland Supporters Club and Laois Leeds supporters club.

Joining the star-studded lineup is Will O’Callaghan a renowned presenter from Off The Ball and Midlands 103 who will be MC for the evening.

Tickets for the event are available from Humes Bar, Eventbrite, Allbooks, Peigs, Laois RISSC and Laois Leeds and are €20.

Ian Harte boasts an illustrious career spanning just short of 20 years across the English soccer pyramid and a successful stint in Spain.

Harte enjoyed a remarkable soccer career, spanning nearly two decades across the English soccer pyramid.

He was part of the Leeds United team that reached the semi finals of the Champions League in 2001 playing 17 games and scoring three goals before being knocked out by reigning LaLiga champions Valencia.

After Leeds’ financial troubles, he moved to Spanish side Levante where he spent three years before joining up with former international Roy Keane in Sunderland.

Ian was also part of the 1998 World Cup squad and played every game of the 2002 World Cup qualifying campaign and also featured in the squad for the finals.

He will be available for photos and autographs during the evening.
