Planning: Local developer seeking planning permission to build 40 houses in Portarlington

A local developer has applied to Laois County Council for planning permission to begin a new residential development in one of the county’s biggest towns.

The application came from Garryduff Properties Limited, who have proposed a 40-unit hosing project in Cooltaderry, Portarlington.

The site in question is 1.128 hectares.

The proposed development, if approved, would compromise of the following:

  • Six single-storey, semi-detached houses;
  • Ten two-storey, semi-detached houses;
  • 12  two-storey, terraced houses;
  • Two duplex and apartment buildings.

Both duplex and apartment buildings will consist of four two-storey duplex units and two two-bed apartments above.

The proposed development would be accessed from the existing Lansdowne/Castlelea Estate.

The project is to also include estate roads, footpaths, public open space, foul and surf water drainage, landscaping and all associated infrastructure works and services.
