U-15 Hurling: Hibernia Cup success for Laois hurlers in Abbotstown

Laois U-15 Hurling Hibernia Cup Winners (1)

A Laois academy squad were celebrating last weekend as they claimed the U-15 hurling Hibernia Cup.

In miserable conditions in Abbotstown on Saturday, Laois emerged victorious from this eight-team competition.

The Hibernia Cup in a third tier competition and Laois’s second U-15 team competed.

They were draw in a group with Limerick (3), Clare (3) and Kildare (2).

They defeated Kildare and Limerick in the group phase and although they lost to Clare, Laois advanced to the semi finals.

Here, they faced Kildare in the semi final but once again proved too strong – winning 5-7 to 1-3.

Antrim came through from the other side of the competition and reached the final against Laois.

But Laois performed even better again and ran out 6-12 to 1-5 victors over the Ulster side to claim glory.
