Gardai seize €150,000 worth of cannabis on Portlaoise motorway

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run

A man was arrested yesterday afternoon after the car he was travelling in was stopped by gardaí and cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €150,000 was found.

The man, who is a non-national in his 30s from the Cork area, was travelling southbound on the M8 when gardaí stopped his car at junction 3 around 1.30pm.

The cannabis herb was discovered in the boot of the car and the vehicle was seized.

The man was arrested and is currently being detained at Portlaoise Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drugs Trafficking Act 1996 where he can be held for seven days.
