The family of a man missing from the Mountrath area have thanked the local community after he was found safe and well late on Monday night.
Anthony Heffernan (71) from Ringstown, Mountrath, was reported missing on Monday afternoon and his family were deeply concerned and afraid he could have become disoriented.
Gardai assisted the family and the local community in the search.
“Anthony has been found safe and well thank you so much to everybody who has been out searching,” said a post on the local Slieve Bloom GAA Facebook page.
“The strength and togetherness of this small community is something to admire.”
