Portlaoise rounded off a busy week for their intermediate team by claiming a surprise win away to Emo this evening.
Playing their third game in eight days (and second in three days following Wednesday’s 3-11 to 1-6 loss away to Killeshin), they picked up their second win thanks to an impressive second-half showing in Emo.
The home side led 2-5 to 2-2 at the break thanks to goals from Chris Gleeson and David Gorman. Martin Staunton and Lee Davis netted Portlaoise’s goals in that opening half and then outscored the hosts by 1-6 to 0-3 in the second half, Davis bringing his tally to 2-1.
Portlaoise seniors take on Division 1A leaders St Joseph’s on Saturday evening while this Portlaoise intermediate team are back in action next Friday when they host Arles-Kilcruise.
