Signed Bobby Charlton jersey to be auctioned at memorial run in St Abban’s

The Buggy family just after Ned died at his favourite 5km run in Vicarstown

A memorial 4km run in honour of Ned Buggy – who died by suicide last year – takes place tomorrow in St Abban’s and they have a seriously impressive piece of sporting memorabilia up for auction afterwards.

A Manchester Utd jersey from the 1968 European Cup final and signed by Bobby Charlton, who scored two goals in that game, will be auctioned off after the race.

All proceeds from the run will go to Pieta House and such is the expected large turnout, registration will now start half an hour earlier at 12noon with the race going off at 1pm.

The event – which is described as a 4km Run/Walk/Crawl – is being organised by Ned’s family and entry is €5.
