Seán Masterson has been named the Connacht Rugby U-19 player of the year.

The former Portlaoise Rugby man, who also represented Park-Ratheniska at juvenile level, has enjoyed an incredible year.

Along with playing for the province, he captained the Ireland U-19 team who enjoyed a very successful tour in Japan in March

Masterson was also called up to the Ireland U-20 squad during the Six Nations where he made an appearance off the bench against France in a 27-22 victory.

The Ireland U-20s will compete in the world cup in Georgia next month and it is hoped that Masterson will make that squad.

Sean’s older brother Eoghan is part of Pat Lahm’s senior squad who are coming to the conclusion of their Pro 12 campaign.
