Roundup of Thursday’s night’s Laois GAA action

There was four games in the Laois Shopping Centre ACFL Division 2 down for decision this evening with three clubs registering their first win of the season.

Junior side Park-Ratheniska got the better of senior outfit Ballyfin on a scoreline of 2-14 to 1-12, Mark Delany and Denis Brennan accounting for their goals.

A second-half goal from Brendan Hickey ensured St Joseph’s got the better of neighbours Barrowhouse. Barrowhouse had led 0-3 to 0-2 at the break but Joseph’s had too much in the second half and pulled clear.

Clonaslee-St Manman’s also got their first win as they got the better of Kilcavan on a scoreline of 4-11 to 1-6.

Elsewhere Courtwood remain top after making it five wins from five – they beat The Rock 2-14 to 2-7, Matt Kelly accounting for both goals. The Rock are still waiting for their first win.

Meanwhile, in Division 1B, Crettyard and Portlaoise drew 0-9 each. The draw moves Crettyard on to three points and off the bottom of the table for the first time.
