The road from Laois to Tralee is a well worn one for Laois hurling supporters in recent times and on Sunday last it was the destination once again.
The Laois senior hurlers took to the road again making the trip to Austin Stack Park in Tralee for the second time this season.
Laois had lost the opening round league game back in February but on Sunday they travelled hoping to complete the Round Robin stages of the championship unbeaten following earlier wins over Meath and Westmeath.
And given that Laois had beaten Kerry in the Division 1B relegation playoff early last month, it meant that Eamonn Kelly’s side could record four wins in succession, a relatively unusual occurrence for the county hurling team.
A strong second-half performance did the job for Laois as they held on for a 2-21 to 3-15 win to top the group. They will now play Wexford in the Leinster quarter-final on Sunday, May 28.
As well as Sportsfile photographer Ray McManus capturing some great photos, we also snapped some of the loyal Laois supporters after the game. They had a long journey ahead of them but it was made easier on the back of a good championship win.
