St Joseph’s 4-14 Arles-Killeen 1-7
Laois Shopping Centre ACFL Division 1A
St Joseph’s made it back-to-back ACFL Division 1A wins last night to move within touching distance of the league final.
The Kellyville outfit simply had too much for a heavily depleted Arles-Killeen side who are increasingly looking like they will be relegated from the Division.
The game, played in Mageny, was dominated from start to finish by St Joseph’s who raced into a 1-8 to 0-3 lead at the break.
Michael Keogh grabbed the St Joseph’s goal while Arles-Killeen’s three points came from Conor Keightley (2) and Donie Brennan.
Things got even worse for Killeen on the resumption of play with St Joseph’s raising three more green flags via Brendan Hickey, Paddy Hickey and Adam Campion.
Arles-Killeen did manage a goal of their own through Michael Wall but it was a mere consolation for the home side on a disappointing night.
St Joseph’s are now six points clear of third placed Portlaoise with four games remaining and they can seal their place in the final if they beat Graiguecullen in two weeks time.
Down the other end, Arles-Killeen are now four points from safety and they simply must beat Portlaoise the next day if they are to have any hope of staying up.
It’s not all good news for St Joseph’s however as they are set to lose three influential players for the remainder of the league campaign.
Michael Keogh, Adam Campion and Danny Hickey will all depart to spend the summer in Philadelphia in the coming week which will be a big loss for the Kellyville outfit.
