James (Jim) Shortall, formerly of Portarlington, died May 30th peacefully in the loving care of the staff of St.Vincent’s Hospital, Mountmellick surrounded by his loving family. Deeply regretted by his sons and daughters, grandchildren, extended family, relatives, neighbours and many friends. The complete obituary notice and funeral arrangements will be published on Wednesday afternoon.

Wynne Brennan (née Phelan)
Rockview, Portlaoise, Laois

Brennan (nee Phelan) Rockview, Mountrath Rd., Portlaoise May 29th 2017 (Late of Treasures, Portlaoise). Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Winifred (Wynne) beloved wife of the late Seamus, and dearly loved mother to Rachel. Adoring grandmother to Seamus (Jnr). Deeply regretted by her loving family. Partner Der, son-in-law Hugh, sisters Mai Conroy, Nora Cahill and Chris Cass. Brothers-in-law Gerry, Joe and Charlie. Sisters-in-law, Treasa and Vera. Nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Reposing at her residence from 5pm on Wednesday with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Thursday morning to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church for 11.30am Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Old Borris, Castletown, Laois

Joseph (Joe) Phelan, Old Borris, Castletown, Portlaoise, Co. Laois. Died 28th. May 2017. Peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Son of the Late Bab (nee O’Riordan) and Jack. Deeply regretted by his loving son John Peter, aunts Sis, Lil and Mary, extended family, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposing at Guilfoyle’s Funeral Home, Castletown, Mountrath tomorrow, Tuesday evening, from 5 o’c with rosary in the Funeral Home at 9 o’c. Removal on Wednesday morning, 31st May, at 10.30 o’c to St. Edmund’s Church, Castletown for Funeral Mass at 11 o’c, followed by burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

Castleknock, Dublin/Stradbally, Laois

Brophy-Macken Helen (Castleknock, Dublin and formerly of Stradbally, Co. Laois and Ex. H.S.E.) May 27th. 2017, peacefully and surrounded by her family, in the wonderful care of the staff of Highfield Healthcare, after a long illness patiently and serenely borne. Much loved wife of John Macken, sister of John (Sean) Brophy and aunt of Peter, Diarmaid, Gráinne and Deirdre. Deeply regretted by her loving husband, brother, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives and many friends. Reposing at Cunningham’s Funeral Home, Church Avenue, Blanchardstown on Monday evening (29th. May) from 6.00 o’clock until 8.00 o’clock. Removal to the Church of Our Lady Mother of the Church, Castleknock on Tuesday morning (30th. May) arriving for Requiem Mass at 11.30 o’clock followed by burial in Oakvale Cemetery, Stradbally, Co. Laois arriving at 3.30 o’clock approx. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland.

Kathleen died at her residence, in the loving care of her family. Deeply regretted by her brothers Martin and Dennis, sisters Peg (Brame) and Chriss (Bennett), brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a large circle of friends. Reposing at her residence from 1pm on Monday and rosary at 9pm. Removal at 10.30am on Tuesday morning to St. Lazarian’s Church, Knock, for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Ballinakill.Family flowers only .Donations in lieu to Laois Pallative Care Team or The Oncology Unit Tallaght Hospital,Dublin.House Private on Tuesday morning please.
