G’s Gourmet Jams is one of Laois’s real success stories.
Owned by Helen Gee, who makes the jam on her own Abbey Farm near Abbeyleix, exports her produce across Europe and to the US. She also supplies a lot of the five star hotels around the country and Aer Lingus.
In total she produces over 40 different ranges – in marmalades, jams, chutneys and relishes – and they are sold in Ireland, the USA, France, Germany and Luxembourg.
While Helen has been making jam for over 30 years, this time 16 years ago she officially launched G’s Jams at an event in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel.
Photographer Alf Harvey was on hand that night to snap the official launch and he he photographed Helen on many occasions since as the business has gone from strength to strength.
