Ed Sheeran fans already queueing for tickets in Portlaoise

Die hard Ed Sheeran fans have already begun camping out in Portlaoise in the hope of securing tickets.

The popular singer is playing gigs in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Belfast in May.

The fans we spoke to said they didn’t care where they got tickets for, providing they secured the tickets.

Some told us they managed to grab some sleep despite the usual nocturnal activities.

Some took turns through the night and alternated their time on duty in the queue.

Grainne Gavin and Sandra Rocheford from Portlaoise began queuing at 4 pm on Thursday .

Others queuing included Carol Farrell from Ballyroan, who was there along with her mother.

Sisters Meghan and Kim Fitzpatrick from Ballyfin had already joined the queue on Thursday, also.

Eimear Dunne from Clonaslee also started queuing on Thursday night. She said her friends are away on a cruise at the moment so she decided to camp out on her own.

Honour Burnes from Ballybrittas also took up her post from 9 pm on Thursday night.

Arriving early on Friday morning were Roscrea girls Jackie Kirwan, Angel Doran, Kayla O’Brien and James McKelvey.

The avid fans certainly came prepared with camping chairs, blankets, rain jackets and hot water bottles.

Tickets go on sale on Saturday morning in Colgan’s Sports in Portlaoise.
