Live Blog of Friday evening’s Laois GAA club championship action

The draw for Round 2 has been made
Evan O'Carroll

Good evening and welcome to O’Moore Park where we will be live blogging the action from this evening’s Laois SFC clash between Crettyard Gaels and Ballyroan-Abbey.

Crettyard reached last year’s semi-final but endured a tough league campaign this spring, resulting eventually in relegation to ACFL Division 2, the third tier of club football in the county. They will have the addition of some Spink players as a Gaels outfit and with the likes of Evan O’Carroll and Cormac Murphy in their ranks they will be stronger than they were throughout the league.

Ballyroan-Abbey were also relegated but from Division 1A and they did record a win over Portlaoise in the final round of games, a result that denied The Town a league final place.

Sammy Kelly is in charge of Crettyard and has the unique distinction of having won a Leinster intermediate title with both Crettyard (in 2005) and with Ballyroan (in 2008).

We also have reporters at the two Laois IFC games that take place this evening – Courtwood v The Rock in Annanough and Barrowhouse v Portlaoise in Timahoe – and we’ll be bringing you updates from that too.
