Two Laois teams have qualified Athletics Ireland National League Finals.

The Laois Ladies, who are a combination of a number of clubs in the county, qualified for the Division 1 Final.

They are joined by their colleagues in St. Abban’s who have qualified for the Premier Division final.

The National League is a senior event, and covers the full range of athletics activities, from Race Walking, Middle Distance, Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps and Throws.

The league format is two qualifying rounds, with 8 clubs competing against each other in each round.

The first placed athlete scores 9 points, 7 for 2nd, and all the way to 1 point for 8th place.

The top 8 teams teams across the two days then qualify for the final on August 20 in Tullamore.

Both the Laois Men’s teams and St. Abban’s Men’s team narrowly missed the qualification for the finals.
