Athy ease through as Kildare SFC down to the last four

Kildare SFC

Athy were far too strong for last year’s intermediate champions Round Towers in their Kildare SFC quarter-final played today.

They recorded a 0-21 to 0-6 win over the Kildare town side in Hawkfield to set up a semi-final meeting with Moorefield.

Moorefield dethroned Newbridge rivals Sarsfields on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-11, ending Sarsfields bid for three titles in a row.

In the other quarter-finals played this evening, Johnstownbridge were big 3-17 to 0-8 winners over Clane while Celbridge beat Naas by 1-14 to 0-11.

The semi-final pairings will see Athy face Moorefield and Johnstownbridge take on Celbridge.

Elsewhere in the Kildare championships, Monasterevin will play Kilcock in the intermediate semi-final next Saturday while Clogherinkoe will meet Raheens in the other semi-final.
