Portlaoise Shamrocks and O’Moore’s remain in touch at the top

Portlaoise Shamrocks are in fourth place but just two points off the top in a competitive Division 1 of the CCFL following Sunday’s amazing 6-5 win over Walsh Island.

In a game that saw five penalties awarded in total, Ger McInerney and Stephen O’Loughlin got two goals each with Dean Gavin and Paddy Kuteyk with one apiece.

Elsewhere in that division, Mountmellick Utd are in second following a 2-0 win away to a Raheen side that have now lost their first seven games. Towerhill Rovers and Derry Rovers played out a 3-3 draw in the same division.

In Division 2, O’Moore’s FC are second following a 2-1 win over Longford side Killoe but Portarlington are second from bottom following a 2-1 loss away to Kinnegad.

In Division 3, Maryborough were beaten 3-1 by Ballinagar while St Aengus’s match with Derry Rover ‘B’ was called off with 15 minutes remaining.
