Camross 1-12 Myshall (Carlow) 3-7
Leinster Club Intermediate Camogie Championship
There was heartbreak for Camross this afternoon as a goal in the last minute of extra time denied them a place in the Leinster club intermediate camogie final.
Camross looked to be on their way to a great win when they led by two points at half time of extra time but it was devestation at the final whistle as Myshall clinched the win in the most dramatic circumstances.
Camross led 0-5 to 1-1 at the break, three of their points coming from play from Aimee Collier with Sarah Anne Fitzgerald adding two frees. The Laois champions could have been further clear only for Donna Mortimer’s goalbound effort to come back off the crossbar and they also felt they had a valid point overruled by the referee.
Myshall – who won the All Ireland intermediate title earlier this year in Croke Park and the junior in 2016 – got two second-half goals but Sarah Anne Fitzgerald struck back with a Camross goal and Aimee Collier added her fourth point. Camross looked to be on their way out only for Niamh Dollard to send the game to extra time with a late point.
Two more frees from Sarah Anne Fitzgerald and one from play from Lizzy Ryan helped Camross to a 1-10 to 2-5 lead at half-time of extra time.
But the Carlow side refused to give in and a goal with the last puck of the game sent them into a Leinster final against Kildare side Johnstownbridge.
