Mountmellick man arrested following heroin possession

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run

A man has been arrested after he was caught in possession of heroin.

Local Gardaí in Mountmellick arrested the 30-year-old in Mountmellick.

They made the arrest following the search of a house in College Avenue in the town.

A file has been submitted to the DPP in relation to the matter.

Elsewhere, Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s following an assault and robbery incident.

It took place today on Main Street, Newbridge, Co. Kildare.

At approximately 1.30am yesterday, the injured man was returning to his car when he was assaulted and had his car stolen.

He was later taken to Naas General hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.
