The countdown is on to Christmas and savvy shoppers were able to snap up the best of local products and gifts at two local Christmas markets.

A wide range of delicious products, handmade candles and alternative therapies were on show at the Connect 2 Laois Christmas Market in Manor Stone tomorrow afternoon.

The delectable goodies showcased in Ballacolla included national award winning mince pies, truffles, jams and spices to suit every taste!

Gifts

Not be outdone, a Christmas market was held in the Manor Hotel in Abbeyleix where local gifts and a wide range of locally produced foodstuffs were on sale.

Certainly there was no excuse not to purchase a gift which has been produced locally.

And the markets were a great opportunity for local producers to showcase the array of gifts and tasty goods which are produced in Laois.

Many of the good on sale are nationally renowned,  such as Aghaboe Farm Food’s Award Winning Frangipane Mince Pies, which won the Silver Award at the Blas na hÉireann 2017 Food Awards.

Helen Gee of G Jams exhibited at both market.

Michael Onalimi of Flavour Safari – Ireland’s First African Inspired Sauce Range, brought an international flavour to the markets.

Visitors to both markets could choose from organic porridge, home made ice cream, chocolates and truffles, and a range of pesto sauces.

Certainly there is no excuse not to sample something delicious from Laois this Christmas.
