Portlaoise Educate Together NS ran a Christmas Collection Drive for PATH (Portlaoise Action To Homelessness) this week.

This is the second year that pupils in Portlaoise Educate Together NS have fundraised for PATH.

The children were asked to donate one item from a list provided by PATH or bring in €1.00 by Friday 15 December.

This year saw boxes and bags loaded with toiletries, underwear, socks, hats and food items and a total of €85.00 in cash was collected.

Pupil Sophie Dowling wrote a delightful Christmas card where she asked Santa to, “Bring all the homeless a home for Christmas.”

Chairperson of the Parents Association at PETNS Siobhán Mannion said she was, “Delighted with the response of generosity from the children, parents and staff, especially at Christmas time.”

All items and money were delivered to PATH on Friday and will be distributed to the homeless over the Christmas period.
