Brazen car thieves make off with alloys and laptop following Portlaoise robbery

Garda

A Portlaoise resident woke up to an unpleasant surprise this morning when he discovered his car broken into, windows smashed, laptop stolen and wheels taken – with the brazen thieves using his own car jack to help make the robbery.

Gardaí in Portlaoise are appealing for information following the robbery that took place over night in Kilminchy. The incident took place at about 4am it is believed.

The robbers broke in through the small front triangular window where they proceeded to unlock the car doors.

The owner’s work laptop was taken from the boot but luckily there was nothing else of value to take.

The car was stripped of two alloys as well as the spare alloy wheel from the boot.

The robbers seemed to be spooked when the owners dog began to bark and made off with the stolen goods.

The owner only realised that the car was broken into when he left his house to go to work this morning and reported it immediately to the Gardaí.
