Rosenallis AFC’s U-12 boys have reached the last 32 in Ireland in the SFAI U-12 National Cup, with a great home tie awaiting them next. The last 32 run overlaps the SFAI South Leinster Region Cup, which Rosenallis have also managed to reach the semi.
Rosenallis began the South Leinster Region Cup with an away tie with Naas B which they came out 5-1 winners. Up next came the round 3 game with Kilcock which they won 3-0.
They faced Kilcullen A in the South Leinster Region Cup quarter final, in which they would secure their place in the last 32 of Ireland with a win. They overcame Kilcullen with a hard fought 3-2 extra-time win away from home.
They now face Tullamore in the South Leinster Region semi-final, which Mullingar or Edenderry will await the winners. They will play Corduff from Blanchardstown at the end of January in the round of 32 of the SFAI National U-12 Cup. Win that game and they will secure a home tie in the last 16.
Speaking to Darren Whelan of the Rosenallis club, he said: “It is excellent for Rosenallis AFC as it shows a small rural club can compete with these major towns at a national level. The development of this squad is no accident”.
Nine of the Rosenallis team have been apart of the world renowned Coerver Performance Academy which Rosenallis AFC entered into an exclusive partnership with Coerver two years ago.
The partnership uses the Coerver model to develop the technique of our players from the age of 5 upwards. Coerver is playing a major part in professional academies at numerous premier league academies.
Through Coerver, Rosenallis AFC have had players attend the Benfica & Borussia Dortmund Academies in 2017 and a group of our players went to Milan over the October bank holiday weekend to train with AC Milan and also attended the AC Milan v Juventus match at the San Siro Stadium.
