Sod turned for primary school extension in Laois

The official sod turning earlier today

The sod was officially turned today for the school extension for Scoil Mhuire Fatima in Timahoe.

Laois TD and Minister for Justice and Equality, Charlie Flanagan, was on hand in Timahoe this morning to perform the function

“I am delighted to be present this morning for the turning of the sod which will kick off the building of the new school extension. This is a very important and exciting day for the school and heralds a new day for education in the Timahoe area,” he said.

Funding has been provided by the Department of Education and Skills to construct two additional mainstream classrooms along with two classrooms Early Intervention Unit (ASD pre-school) which will be adjacent to the school.

“Our government is proud to invest in new schools in County Laois to ensure local children will continue to thrive in a safe and healthy learning environment.

Repair

“I remain acutely aware that a number of schools in Laois are in need of repair and upgrade and I will continue to work with my cabinet colleague Richard Bruton TD, Minister for Education and Skills to ensure that building projects such as the new schools for St Francis School & Kolbe Special School are progressed,” he said.
