WATCH: Internet sensations the 2 Johnnies are coming to Laois for huge Macra fundraiser

The 2 Johnnies will perform in the Midlands Park Hotel on March 3

For the first time ever Laois Macra na Feirme will be hosting Internet Sensations The 2 Johnnies on Saturday, March 3, in the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise.

The 2 Johnnies are a comedy duo based in Cahir, Co Tipperary. They went viral with their song The Boom is Back in November 2017 and have continued to release more comedic songs and tour the country with their comedy shows.

“We’re very excited to bring comedy duo The 2 Johnnies to the Midlands Park Hotel on March 3 as part of our main fundraiser for the year,” says Helen Dempsey, Laois Macra na Feirme Chairperson about the upcoming event.

Helen travelled to Cahir last weekend to meet the duo – and take over the LaoisToday Snapchat account – and you can watch the video below, which also includes a snippet of one of their other well-known songs, Junior B All Star.

In their typical good-natured sense of humour, they encourage everyone from Laois to come along on the night “except people from Camross!” although they do row back on that initial threat quickly enough!

“Huge thanks must go to our generous sponsors, Condells for their support with our fundraising effort. A great night’s entertainment is guaranteed for all who attend.

“This fundraiser will raise much needed funds towards the development of our county and all eight clubs. Macra na Feirme is a rural youth organisation for young people between the ages of 17 and 35 who are interested in getting involved in sports, travel, drama, debating, or just want to meet new people and have some fun!”

Laois Macra na Feirme encompasses eight clubs around Laois; Camross, Clough, Durrow/Abbeyleix, East Laois, Mountmellick, Portlaoise, Rathdowney and Slievebloom.

Laois Macra has a membership of almost 300 young people around the county. Clubs meet on a weekly basis to engage in the numerous activities which Macra has to offer.

Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 8pm. Tickets cost €15 for Macra members and €20 for non Macra members and are available from any Macra club in Laois or on Eventbrite.

Any Macra member who purchased a discounted ticket must produce a 2017/2018 membership card on the night.

This is an over 18s event as some content may not be suitable for children. For more information you can contact the Laois Macra na Feirme Facebook Page or alternatively you can contact Helen on 087-9511765 with any queries.
