Two young ladies Gaelic footballers from Laois have received scholarships.
The pair are two of just four girls who were selected for the accolade by Leinster LGFA at their Convention a number of weeks ago.
One of the recipients was Maeve Phelan who is attending DCU.
Maeve plays her club football with St. Brigid’s in Laois and has previously lined out for DCU in the Lynch Cup and for their Freshers team.
While the second Laois winner was Sarah Phelan who is also attending UL.
Sarah plays her club football with Portlaoise and has managed her club minor’s side to their county final.
Leinster LGFA said: “We are deeply indebted to these players who commit their time to not only their studies but also the LGFA in other forms.
“All four players are also mentors, coaches or managers in their respective clubs.
“We hope these Scholarships are a small notation of our thanks for not only the entertainment you give supporters on the pitch, but your encouragement, dedication and example you set for future generations of LGFA stars.
“A big thank you to the families of our Scholarship winners who accompanied the players to Convention and joined in in the celebrations.”
