Doors stolen from ancient Laois castle

An unusual theft occurred at Ballyadams Castle as the main doors were robbed some time between Friday night and Saturday morning.

The Laois Nationalist are reporting that the culprit, or culprits, must have used a large vehicle to transport the doors.

So anyone who saw a vehicle acting suspiciously in the area late on Friday night or early Saturday morning are asked to contact Gardaí.

Jewel in the crown of local heritage

The 15th century castle is a significant piece of Ballylinan heritage.

The six-storey tower house has been in the private ownership of the Butler family for centuries.

Anyone with information that could help find the extraordinary doors are asked to contact any garda station or the garda confidential line on 1800 666111.
