In Pictures: Wonderful atmosphere as Laois players meet supporters ahead of Leinster final

There’s nothing like the build-up to a big game and O’Moore Park was a hive of activity this evening as the Laois players mingled with supporters ahead of next Sunday’s Leinster final.

With Laois in a first provincial decider in 11 years, Laois GAA organized a Meet and Greet with the players in O’Moore Park.

And it was attended by hundreds of enthusiastic supporters – many of them families with young children. The whole thing was a really positive occasion with the excited atmosphere reflective of the mood of the county as a whole.

The players posed for photos, signed autographs and kicked around with the many blue-and-white clad fans.

Indeed a queue formed at one stage with youngsters taking a penalty on sub-goalkeeper Eoghan Keogh.

Injured captain Stephen Attride was out and about too, sporting a considerable black eye

The Graiguecullen club brought a bus of juveniles to Portlaoise while there were people from all over the county in attendance among them former Laois players like Kevin Fitzpatrick, Chris Conway and Paul Lawlor who were there with their own young children.

For many the event brought back memories of similar scenes back in 2003 and 2004 when thousands flocked to O’Moore Park on Sunday evenings to watch training games.

Laois take on Dublin next Sunday in Croke Park at 4pm. Tickets are on sale in the Laois GAA offices, from www.tickets.ie and from SuperValu stores.
