LISTEN: Collapsing stages, celebrity customers and an annual cycle – it’s our Electric Picnic Podcast

Brought to you in association with Finline Furniture

It’s nearly here. Electric Picnic week is upon us and the excitement is bubbling nicely.

To look ahead, we dedicated this week’s LaoisToday podcast to the incredibly popular event – and we were joined by two men who have experienced the Picnic from many different angles.

Our presenter Brian Moss was joined by well-known local musician Brian O’Mahony, whose band Pogueology received an amount of attention last year when their Friday night gig had to be abandoned after a section of the floor collapsed in Jimmy’s Lee’s Juke Joint.

The seven-piece Pogues tribute band return to Electric Picnic again this year with a slot on the Salty Dog stage and Brian discussed his memories of last year’s event and what it was like to play at Electric Picnic.

Stradbally man Richard Dunne, whose family own Dunne’s Bar in the town, is also a regular Picnic goer and he will once again be taking part in the Tour De Picnic, a charity cycle from Tallaght to Stradbally on the Friday.

He spoke about his Electric Picnic memories, what he’s looking forward to this year and what their pub is like during the weekend.
