Portlaoise ladies football reign supreme in U16

Portlaoise 1-8 Graiguecullen 0-9

Portlaoise u16 Ladies Football team stormed home with a fantastic win against a resilient Graigecullen side on Thursday evening in Annanough.

In atrocious weather conditions the standard of Football served up by both teams was spectacular and a credit to their club and mentors.

Portlaoise appeared to be in control of the game throughout and despite a last minute comeback from the Graiguecullen side the Portlaoise Girls remained composed and secured the win.

This is not the first time these two teams have met in a county final, although the skillful Graiguecullen have constantly nipping at their heels, they have been unable to get the better of this Portlaoise team.

This win is the sixth county title for this group of girls in six consecutive years.

They had their first win at U12 in 2013 and have reigned supreme in every age group since, winning two Feile Championships and the infamous Kilmacud Crokes Shield Title in 2015.

Laois U16 Ladies Football ends the year with Portlaoise winning the League Title and the U16 ‘A’ County Championship.
