Death has occurred of well-known Laois man George Dobson

The death has occurred of a well-known Laois man.

George Patrick Dobson, from Portlaoise, passed away unexpectedly at the Midlands Regional Hospital yesterday.

George, who is believed to have been aged in his 70s, was well known all over the county.

He would frequently be seen travelling around on his scooter and was known to pop up at a range of events.

These ranged from The Rock Inn Vintage Rally to the Electric Picnic where he always carried his radio and his fold-out chair.

George is deeply regretted by his family Winston, Emily and Audrey, relatives, extended family, neighbours and friends.

George’s removal from the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise will take place at 6.30pm this Thursday to arrive at Holy Trinity Church, The Rock for 7pm Reception Prayers.

His Funeral Service is on Friday at 2.30pm, followed by burial in the adjoining churchyard.
