In Pictures: Festive spirit as lights go on in Timahoe

There’s a great little community in Timahoe and that was evident again when the Christmas lights were officially switched on by Cllr Paschal McEvoy on Saturday night.

A great crowd of young and old turned out to switch on the lights on the Monastic Village.

“A big thanks to all for their support and efforts,” said Roghan Headen, one of the main organisers.

Cllr Paschal McEvoy said he is “always amazed by the community spirit in Timahoe” .

Stars were sponsored by Tigh Mochua Le Chéile and people wrote messages on them and hung them from the tree to remember loved ones. Santa Claus also visited the village on Sunday morning after Mass.

As well as that, the Corner Shop put on a festive spread with beautiful mince pies from Imelda Tynan and the local folk group sang out Christmas classics.

Meanwhile, Christmas came early at Timahoe NS this week when Parents Association Chairperson Margaret Buggy arrived to the school to present seven brand new ipads.

This was thanks to the funding from the Laois Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) under the Community Enhancement Programme 2018.
