In Pictures: Ballyroan-Abbey celebrate remarkable 2018 with Juvenile Awards

What a year it has been for all involved in Ballyroan-Abbey GAA.

The club completed league and championship doubles at minor and U-15 ‘A’ level while their U-13s won the Plate.

It was undoubtedly the minor victory which tasted the sweetest for Ballyroan-Abbey as they ended a famine at the grade.

It was their first win at the grade since 1971 and ended a staggering period of 47 years without tasting success.

But their victory over Portarlington was far from straight forward as it took them a replay to get there.

It looked like they missed their opportunity in the drawn game as Ceilum Coughlan-Maher’s late goal snatched a draw for a Portarlington side that played the majority of the final with 14 men.

However, Ballyroan-Abbey were super in the replay and won by 13 points in the end.

The awards night, held in the school in Ballyroan on Friday night, was extremely well attended.

Guest speakers included Laois senior football boss John Sugrue while Rody McEvoy was MC on the night.

Our photographer Julie Anne Miller went along on the night and snapped these brilliant photos:
