Laois senior football manager John Sugrue has named his team to face Down in Round 1 of Division 3 of the National Football League.
And it is a much changed team for Laois’s All-Ireland Qualifier defeat to Monaghan last summer.
There are seven changes to that team as Stephen Attrid, Adam Campion, David Seale, Robbie Pigott, Conor Boyle, Sean Byrne and Colm Murphy are in from the start.
These are competitive debuts for Portarlington’s Sean Byrne and St Joseph’s Adam Campion.
While Portlaoise duo David Seale and Conor Boyle return to the inter-county set-up after spells away from the game.
From the team that started in the Monaghan game, Darren Strong has retired while Trevor Collins, Colm Begley, Alan Farrell, Brian Glynn, Donie Kingston and Ross Munnelly are not part of the starting 15.
Laois go into the start of the league as second favourites behind Down who they play on Saturday in Newry at 7pm.
The team is as follows:
LAOIS: Graham Brody; Adam Campion, Mark Timmons, David Seale; Stephen Attride, Robbie Pigott, Gareth Dillon; John O’Loughlin, Kieran Lillis; Damien O’Connor, Conor Boyle, Sean Byrne; Colm Murphy, Evan O’Carroll, Paul Kingston
