What a year and what a night it was for St Paul’s LGFA.
Not a club to do things by halves, the women of St Paul’s held an end of year party for their juveniles in December and followed this with a glamourous presentation night last weekend.
Their adult side celebrated their jump from junior football to intermediate football after emerging as ladies junior champions.
The final, which saw St Paul’s defeat Ballyfin Ladies, was an exciting goal thriller right from the very start.
History was made for both sides playing in O’Moore Park, particuarly for the winning St Paul’s side.
They had their first victory in the county grounds since many of the players were in Cummann na mBunscol days with Emo NS.
The future certainly looks bright for the women of St Paul’s.
Their youth are paving their way onto the Laois ladies panel – which includes Emma Lawlor, Sinead O’Rourke and Shannon Costello.
A mere month after winning the junior title, St Paul’s earned themselves the minor ‘A’ trophy – with sharpshooter Lawlor scoring 2-6 of her side’s total in a victory over Ballyroan that capped a remarkable year for her club.
