Gardai have launched an investigation after our pictures revealed shocking vandalism on one of Laois’s most loved tourist attractions.
The letters ‘DREVM’ and ‘SSG’ have been painted on the walls of the historic building – and it is unclear what these actually mean.
And now Gardai have opened an investigation into what they say is criminal damage.
Gardai say: “Gardai at Portlaoise are investigating incidents of criminal damage to the historical Rock of Dunamase.
“The graffiti appears to have occurred over the past two weeks.
“We are appealing to any member of the public that may recognise the ‘tags’ or initials or may have information to contact Portlaoise at 0578674100.”
