In Pictures: Laois Marlins take impressive medal haul at the Wexford Summer Gala

The Laois Marlins Swimming Club was out in force once again at the Wexford Summer Gala.

This is a level 3 Gala, which is perfect for those swimmers who just want to improve on their times, or to achieve more qualification times for the Irish Age Division 2 championships this summer.

The Wexford summer Gala, runs over 2 days, and it includes Long Distance Swims such as the 800m and the 1500m, which are only run at very few venues around the country.

On the Saturday, we had 5 swimmers taking part in the Distance Races 3 Girls and 2 boys.

Over the course of the 2 day Gala, Laois marlins had a total of 17 Swimmer, 9 Girls and 8 Boys, taking part in a total of 57 individual swims.

The swimmers achieved a total of 27 personal bests between them, with an impressive medal haul of 25 Medals which comprised of 6 Gold, 9 silver and 10 Bronze.

A special mention to all our Medal Winners over the Weekend; Lucy Brennan in the Girls 14 and under 800m Freestyle took Gold; Daniela Ryan in the Girls 14 and under took Bronze in 800m Freestyle and the 200m Back StrokE.

Viadimir Spirkin took Gold in the Boys 15 and over, 1500m Freestyle; Samuel Bourke-Carey took Gold in the Boys 14 and under 200m Breast Stroke and Silver in 200m Back Stroke.

Toni Dolan took Bronze in the Girls 15 and over 100m Back Stroke and 200m Individual Medely; Sean Donoghue took Silver in the Boys 15 and over 100m Butterfly and Bronze in the 100m Back Stroke; Samuel Farrell took Bronze in the Boys 14 and under 200m Breast Stroke.

Klavdia Hayes took Silver in the Girls 10 and under 100m Back Stroke and the 200m Individual Medley; Lena Kaminska took Silver in the Girls 12 and under, 100m Free, 400m Free and the 200m Back Stroke, while also taking Bronze in 100m Back and 100m Butterfly.

Sadhbh Moore took Silver in the Girls 12 and under 200m Butterfly; Katie O’Connor took Silver in the Girls 12 and under 100m Butterfly.

Scott Overton took Gold in the Boys 15 and over 100m Back Stroke; Ignat Samuchov took Gold in the boys 12 and under200m Breast Stroke and 200m Back Stroke and Bronze in the 100m Breast Stroke and 200m Individual Medley.
