Injury problems for Laois footballers ahead of Qualifier clash with Derry

The Laois footballers look set to remain without the services of two of their key defenders for Saturday’s trip to Derry in Round 2 of the All-Ireland Qualifiers.

Mark Timmons (broken hand) and Colm Begley (Achilles) are understood to be losing their battle to get back to fitness in time for the 5pm clash.

The pair missed the Leinster semi final defeat to Meath two weeks ago having picked up the injuries in the quarter final win over Westmeath.

Captain Stephen Attride and Portarlington’s Robbie Pigott took their places in the starting 15 so they look set to continue.

The big selection issue for manager John Sugrue will be in attack where Donie Kingston is surely pushing for a starting spot following his positive introduction from the bench in the first half against Meath.

He replaced top scorer Evan O’Carroll, something manager Sugrue described afterwards as ‘tactical’.

The game takes place in the Derry Centre of Excellence which is in Owenbeg, Dungiven at 5pm on Saturday June 22.

We will be in Derry on Saturday evening where we will bring you all the action as it happens on our Live Blog.
