Laois Ladies set to play All-Ireland championship match in O’Moore Park

Laois Ladies

This is brilliant news.

The Laois Ladies will play their first group match of the All-Ireland Intermediate football championship in O’Moore Park this Sunday against Clare.

The Ladies have not played a competitive game since they lost their Leinster intermediate crown against Meath at the start of June.

Laois went down 2-9 to 4-15 to Meath in the quarter final in Navan on June 2.

However, all teams that compete in the intermediate championship progress to the All-Ireland stage with the provincials used merely to seed teams for the group stage.

Laois find themselves in Group 3 alongside Wexford and Clare – the latter of which they will host in O’Moore Park on Sunday July 21 at 2pm.

With the top two teams progressing to the quarter finals, a win here would see Laois do just that.

Wexford defeated Clare by 3-10 to 0-16 last weekend and if the Banner lose this game, they will be out leaving Wexford and Laois to playoff for first and second in the group.

Laois Ladies took to Twitter to announce the news.

They say: “Our Intermediate Ladies will play host to Clare this coming Sunday in O’MOORE PARK at 2pm!

“Many thanks to Laois GAA for their continued support.”
