Sadness in Camross at passing of Micheál Moore

The Camross area are in mourning following the death of Micheál Moore, a hugely well-liked and respected member of the local community.

He passed away peacefully early this morning at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore following a short illness.

Micheál worked as a farmer and is survived by his wife Maureen, his sons Seamus, Mikie, Martin, Ciarán and Mary and 17 grand-children.

He is pre-deceased by his son Brian and brothers Kieran and Jimmy and is also survived by his sister Mai, brother Lar, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Micheál, described as a “gentleman to his fingertips”, served as juvenile chairman of Camross GAA club for a number of years and his family have a long association with the club.

A number of his sons live in the USA and are behind the hugely successful Brenco Construction firm.

As well as sponsoring Camross GAA teams over the years, Brenco Construction have also been heavily involved with the well-known Fr Tom’s GAA club in Boston and have provided employment to many young Irish workers on the building sites.

“Their generosity knew no bounds,” said current chairman Phil Duggan in relation to their sponsorship of Camross.

Micheal is reposing at his home in Knocknagad (eircode R32 XR81), from 6pm this Friday evening with Rosary at 9pm.

He is reposing all day Saturday with Rosary at 9pm. Removal on Sunday morning to St Fergal’s Church, Camross, for Requiem Mass at 11am, followed by burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
